CarbonCure Recognized Among Sekoya’s Winning Carbon and Climate Solutions

The initiative named CarbonCure as an innovative carbon dioxide removal solution for the French construction industry

Halifax, NS — January 14, 2021: CarbonCure Technologies, a Canadian clean tech company that develops carbon dioxide removal (CDR) solutions for the concrete industry, was recognized as one of six winners of Sekoya’s second call for low-carbon solutions for the French construction industry.

“CarbonCure is proud to be awarded a spot on Sekoya’s list of low-carbon solutions — a first for a Canadian company. This award is yet another endorsement of CarbonCure as a leading CDR solution for the construction industry,” said Rob Niven, CEO and Founder of CarbonCure.

“France is an important market for CarbonCure and will play an integral role in helping us achieve our goal of 500 megatonnes of CO₂ reductions annually—contributing to the eventual decarbonization of the construction industry,” said Niven.

Sekoya is a low-carbon industrial initiative that advocates for the deployment of low-carbon solutions in the French construction industry to tackle climate change. Its first call for solutions in January 2020 initiated 20 collaborations between the contest winners and Sekoya’s partners.

Sekoya’s second call for solutions — focused on low-carbon design and construction and low-carbon use and operation — received 56 solution submittals. The six winners, including CarbonCure, were announced on December 17, 2020.

“Eiffage and Impulse Partners created the Sekoya platform to focus on low-carbon materials across the construction value chain. We are honored that Sekoya chose CarbonCure as a winner in the category of low-carbon design and construction," said Kaja Salovsky, Vice President of Business Development at CarbonCure. "This award will support our efforts to drive adoption of CarbonCure concrete throughout France and the EU."

CarbonCure is used in nearly 300 concrete plants which supply low embodied carbon concrete to construction projects around the world. It is one of the only permanent CDR solutions on the market in the concrete industry today.
