Pangaea Ventures completes its first startup investment in Japan to support the advancement of Dioseve’s fertility platform, an in vitro maturation approach designed to reduce treatment burden and improve outcomes for patients and clinics.

PHOENIX, Arizona, and TOKYO, Japan, June 15, 2026 — Pangaea Ventures today announced it joined Dioseve’s $7 million (JPY 1.0 billion) Series A Extension financing round with a $2 million investment, alongside participation from Archetype Ventures, DG Daiwa Ventures, Mirai Door (Asuka Innovation Fund), D4V, and Shionogi & Co., Ltd. Dioseve is a biotechnology company developing a new approach to fertility treatment grounded in stem cell biology and reproductive medicine.

Dioseve’s first product, DIOS-101, uses engineered granulosa‑like cells derived from iPS cells to create an ovarian‑like microenvironment in vitro, supporting the maturation of immature oocytes during IVF. The approach is designed to reduce the physical, financial, and logistical burden of treatment while improving the efficiency of fertility care for both patients and clinics.

The need is significant. Global fertility treatments exceed $36 billion and continue to grow, yet IVF success rates remain relatively low and existing in vitro maturation approaches remain underused because of inconsistent efficacy and patient burden. Dioseve is aiming to address that gap with a platform rooted in strong underlying science and a pragmatic path to commercialization.

The scientific basis for the company includes research co‑authored by Dioseve founder Dr. Nobuhiko Hamazaki, whose work helped establish key methods for generating oocyte‑like cells from pluripotent stem cells and reconstituting major parts of the female germline cycle in vitro. That body of work underpins Dioseve’s broader platform in reproductive biology.

“Women deserve fertility care that is easier, more affordable, and more efficient than what's available today. In an underrepresented investment area of women’s health, this technology is a breakthrough for anyone who has faced infertility. Dioseve is taking a science‑driven approach to improving that experience, starting with a product that can fit into clinical workflows and address a clear unmet need. This is why we chose Dioseve as Pangaea’s first startup investment in Japan. We have been laying the groundwork to support more hard tech founders in the country, and Dioseve is the first example of that strategy in action. We are excited to join this round and support the team as they build from a strong scientific foundation toward real patient impact.” says Pangaea Partner Janelle Goulard.

“Fertility treatment still asks too much of patients in terms of time, and physical burden,” said Kazuma Kishida, co‑founder and CEO of Dioseve. “With DIOS-101, our goal is to make IVF easier to go through without compromising on outcomes, and this investment helps us bring that approach into everyday clinical practice all over the world.”

Proceeds from the financing will support Dioseve’s continued clinical and commercial progress for DIOS-101, as well as broader development of its reproductive biology platform.
