Marking 25 Years of Breakthroughs: Voices from Pangaea’s Journey at the Frontier of Hard Tech

For a quarter of a century, Pangaea Ventures has stood at the crossroads of innovation and impact, investing in the toughest challenges facing our planet through breakthrough hard tech solutions. As we continue to commemorate 25 years of supporting visionary entrepreneurs transforming materials science, chemistry, and biology to advance planetary health, it is a moment to reflect, celebrate, and look ahead.

A Year-Long Celebration

Our year-long 25th anniversary celebration has been a vibrant journey of connection and insight. We kicked off with the release of the Hard Tech Report: our first-ever comprehensive deep dive into the state of hard tech innovation. This report encapsulates not only the breakthroughs driving industrial transformation but also the market signals and opportunities that will shape the future.

Following this, our Hard Tech Webinar brought together Pangaea’s co-founders Chris Erickson and Purnesh Seegopaul, who shared reflections drawn from decades at the frontier of innovation. Their candid storytelling underscored the lessons learned, the early risks taken with hard tech investments, and the growth mindset that has fueled Pangaea’s success. This event illuminated the evolution of hard tech from a niche sector to a vital foundation for a sustainable future.

In the spirit of collaboration and community, we convened the Semicon West Startup Social, highlighting our active role in the semiconductor startup ecosystem. The event featured a surprise announcement of our participation in Membrion’s milestone $20 million Series B1 round, a testament to the kind of pioneering companies we champion, ones driving advances that ripple across industries and impact planetary health.

These hallmark activities, along with strategic initiatives like our expansion into Tokyo are not just celebrations, they are a reaffirmation of our commitment to excellence and impact in hard tech.
