Fresh Investment for ChEmpower [ChEmpower

Toyota Tsusho has announced a new investment in Pangaea portfolio company ChEmpower through a simple agreement for future equity (SAFE). ChEmpower develops abrasive-free chemicals and polishing pads for chemical mechanical polishing (CMP), the step that flattens silicon wafers during semiconductor manufacturing. Removing abrasive particles prevents surface scratches on the wafers, which contributes to higher production yields, and makes it easier to recover water and rare metals from waste liquid. Toyota Tsusho will supply ChEmpower’s products to semiconductor manufacturers in Japan and collect waste liquid from chip production to recycle the rare metals.

Pangaea welcomes the news as another validation of abrasive-free CMP as a path to higher yields and less waste in semiconductor manufacturing.
