In May 2014, Pangaea Ventures hosted the Advanced Materials Commercialization Summit at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The invite-only event attracted over sixty major multinational corporations, research centers and investors to discuss key issues in the commercialization of products and technologies enabled by breakthrough innovations in the physical sciences. Key topics included energy, electronics, health, and sustainability.
Speakers included senior representatives from such companies as Applied Materials, General Electric, Nike, Shell, DSM, JSR, and Nitto Denko, as well as leading research institutions such as Caltech, EPRI, Stanford, UCLA, SEMI, and ACAMP. In addition, a number of key venture capital firms and innovative start-up companies shared winning strategies on accelerating the timeline to take a technology in the research lab, and turn it into a successful product with a significant market.
The summit was sponsored by Sustainable Development Technology Canada, the Business Development Bank of Canada, and Woodside Capital Partners. The summit host, Pangaea Ventures, is the world leader in advanced materials venture capital, with offices in Canada and the USA.
