Janelle has an MBA from the University of British Columbia in Entrepreneurship and Innovation and a BComm from McGill University. Janelle is implementing Pangaea's health materials investment strategy.
Pangaea has also promoted two key investment professionals. Sarah Applebaum has been promoted to Director of Pangaea Spark, and Matthew Cohen has been promoted to Director of Technology.
Sarah Applebaum joined Pangaea as Associate in 2012, early in the investment period of Pangaea Ventures Fund III. Her responsibilities have been expanded as Director of Pangaea Spark, the seed and early stage investment sub-strategy of Pangaea Ventures Fund IV. Sarah leads Pangaea's deal sourcing and diligence efforts in pre-revenue opportunities addressing identified urgent pain points in rapidly growing markets.
Matt Cohen joined Pangaea's New Jersey office as Associate, also in 2012. Matt is a materials scientist, and his promotion to Director of Technology is a reflection of his leadership in advanced materials, deal flow, and diligence efforts for Fund IV. He is focused on revenue-generating companies using advanced materials to achieve high growth in energy, electronics, health, and sustainability.
"I am thrilled to be leading Pangaea's health efforts," said Janelle Goulard. "Pangaea is the leader in advanced materials venture capital, and it's a great opportunity to join such a high-performance team."
"Pangaea is fortunate to have such a strong team, with no turnover since our first fund," commented Dr. Purnesh Seegopaul, General Partner. "As our team grows, our capabilities have directly translated into strong deal flow and financial performance."
